So wow, this is my first blog post; what a momentous occasion. This will probably be a pretty short post because the night before last I fell in a hole walking Phoebe in my development. It wasn’t a baby-Jessica-in-the-well kind of hole, it was some busted up pavement out in the parking lot.
My body feels like I was that kid in elementary school that everyone hated and tried to make cry playing Dodgeball in gym class. Finally went to the ER last night. Waited 24 hours before going because I didn’t think anything was broken but my thumb hurt like a mofo so figured I should at least have it checked out. Turns out nothing is broken but I may (or may not) have torn tendons.
I was thinking about all the other people in the ER that are having their lives changed in the blink of an eye because of an unlucky accident, being in the wrong place at the wrong time, or people who just found out they have some terminal illness as I lay in the hospital bed waiting to be seen for my non-life-threatening thumb injury.
When I was a kid I always wanted to show up to school on crutches. Not for the sympathy or pity I might get, but just because I thought it would be cool. Then one day when Helen Cronin (accidentally) stomped on my foot and I needed crutches I wouldn’t go to school for the rest of that week. Go figure.
